The Ijaw Youth Development Association (IYDA) has dismissed the claim by some youths who described themselves as ex-militants during their visit to the gate of the National Assembly as “self style militants” to deceive the public.

In a statement signed By, Comrade Nicolas Igarama and Colins Areyefa, president and publicity secretary respectively, the group stated “the said youths are some of the beneficiaries of communities slots approved to empower militancy impacted community managed by Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG).  The beneficiaries of these include the young and old among other categories of persons. The Ijaw youth development association (IYDA) is also one of the benefiting organizations with over 100 persons.

In an attempt to hijack the slots for themselves alone, these greedy youths approached the Federal High Court, Warri, 2016 claiming to be ex-militants but the court dismissed their claims as they  have no evidence that they took part in the  disarmament process where ex-militants drop arms, while IMG have prove of documented evidence where 12 communities are beneficiaries in human and physical infrastructure such as building six class room blocks in Enerkorogha Delta state, teachers quarter and women development center at Peretorogbene Bayelsa state, NYSC quarters at Ekogbene Delta, provision of  sewing machines, cassava grounding machine for rural women. The Federal High Court headed by Hon. Justice E.A. Obile’s dismissed their claims in his ruling which has been distributed to the print and electronic media”.

The group further condemned the attempt to blackmail the coordinator of IMG Comrade Joseph Evah as ex-militant leader”.  The whole world knows Comrade Joseph Evah as a philanthropist and human right activist, therefore describing him as Militants –General in the creek has clearly shown that the greedy youths should be ignored”.

The Ijaw youth development association which to remind it’s members that any act of indiscipline including pipeline vandalization or kidnapping in the name of Ijaw struggle will be dealt with, sanction and removal of such character from the beneficiaries list.
