A PLEA BY ERIC OMARE, PRESIDENT, IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL –IYC Worldwide TO ALL CONCERN

I humbly implore past IYC leaders whom I have high regards and respect for, to help in building peace in the Council and not fractionalization of the Council.

As I explained in my inaugural speech in Burutu, immediately after my election, I have started the process of reconciling all the warring parties arising from the events of the recent past. However, this task cannot be completed without the support of all, especially those who fall within the category of former leaders and elders.

It is my conviction that the role of elders should be to play an impartial role by bringing all warring parties to a common position rather than going into the arena of conflicts.

The activities of the past few days clearly points in this direction and it is not a good signal for the Council nay Ijaw nation in general.

Therefore, I humbly call on former leaders of the IYC and Ijaw opinion leaders such as Dr. Felix Tuodolor, T. K. Ogoriba, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, Dr. Chris Ekiyor, Alabo Nengi James, Chief Daniel Ekpebide, Famous Daunemigha and others to choose the part of neutrality in order to bring peace to the IYC.

This cannot be achieved by setting up parallel structures in the IYC outside the leadership. I am open to constructive dialogue to bring permanent peace to the IYC.

Thank you

Eric Omare, Esq President, IYC
