The federal government has been asked to employ empathy and sincerity in addressing the issues facing the Niger Delta region. The secretary of the Delta State Government Advocacy Committee Against Oil facility vandalism and former Commissioner in the state, Dr. Chris Ekiyor made the call while speaking with newsmen in Asaba the Delta State capital.

Dr. Ekiyor said, talking tough and using force are not the solution in winning the war against Pipeline vandalism, terrorism and their resultant economic challenges, advising that it was time to the government listen to understand the reason behind the actions with a view to addressing them effectively.

Dr. Chris Ekiyor Secretary of the Delta State Government Advocacy Committee Against Oil Facility Vandalism and former Delta State Commissioner,

He decried the rate at which Nigeria is plunging into a deep recession with the spate of insecurity, unemployment and inaccessibility of Foreign Exchange and stressed the need for the federal government to revisit the membership of its cabinet and its economic policies, industrialize the country and negotiate with the Niger Delta Avengers.

He also appealed to the Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to concentrate on reviving ailing industries, building industrial parks and re-opening of the micro, small and medium Enterprise factory at Issele-uku, in Aniocha North local government, as a way of creating employment for the teeming population.

The committee secretary equally enjoined Deltans to play their role and support the  Gov Okowa Government as the Governor is very passionate about bringing prosperity to all Deltans.
