Ijaw National Congress –INC Lagos Chapter Chairman, Otunba Patrick Keku, has stated that there is no crises between the Ijaw people and its host the Yoruba ethnic Nationalities anywhere in the South-West, precisely Lagos and Ogun State which he believes is peddled by rumour mongers reported by a section of the media.

Otunba Keku addressing the media in Lagos therefore appealed to Reporters to avoid sensational reportage as it will not do the Nigeria nation any good.

Referring to recent media reports about the crisis situation involving the Ijaw People and their host, in some specific areas in Lagos and Ogun States, Otunba Keku maintained that from all available facts there is no crisis between Ijaw people and its host, as this has been established from the recent meetings held between Ijaw leaders and their host Yoruba leaders in Eko Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos and most recent meeting at the Palace of the Akarigbo of Remo in Shagamu LGA of Ogun State, as he called on the law enforcement agencies to come all out and deal with the perpetrators of the crises with the full rot of the law.

 

Continuing, Otunba Keku, stated that efforts are being geared by concerned leaders of the various nationalities,   to avert a crisis situation between the Ijaw people and their host, as well as taking necessary steps to debunk the rumours making the rounds that Ijaw Militants are responsible for the spate of crises being witnessed in some designate areas of Lagos and Ogun State.

 

Authoritatively Otunba Keku, maintained that there had not been any development which would have warranted the ugly situation as reported by a section of the media, which had given way to the unfortunate rumour peddlers.

Otunba Patrick Keku, who has his birth-links, affiliated to the Fidipote Royal family, (Olugbadebo I) ltele Kingdom, Idewon in Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State.  He explained that efforts are being put in place for a Yoruba/Ijaw leadership forum to address the public once again, in assuring the cordial relationship that actually exist between the Yoruba host and the Ijaw people in the South west.

 

On this note Otunba Keku, call on every Ijaw Nationality residing in the South west and beyond to be law abiding and of good behavior in the communities they reside.

 

As he reminds the Ijaw indigenes that finds themselves in any group or organization should always remember that their efforts are appreciated by Ijaw National Congress which is the Ijaw umbrella organization anywhere they reside.

 

In that wise Otunba Keku on behalf of President of the Ijaw National Congress -INC Worldwide, Barri Boma Obuoforibo expressed the Congress appreciation of the good works and positive contributions geared in providing enabling peaceful co-habitation of Ijaw people outside their environs by the people, leaders and Ijaw organizations, such as the Ijaw Elders Forum -IEF, Ijaw Professionals Association  -IPA, Ijaw Monitoring Group –IMG, Izon Ladies Association –ILA,  Ijaw Youth Council –IYC, The Amalgamated Federation, Ijaw Youth Development Association –IYDA, Izon Women Connect IWC,  to mention but few.

 

In the same light, he advised that the people must not forget to make necessary report of any suspicious movements that may likely create disharmony in their area of abode to the appropriate authorities. As the Ijaw people, are known as peace loving people, wherever they reside at the same time, he called on the Security Agents to go all out to arrest and bring to book the perpetrators of the crisis situation in the concerned area in Lagos and Ogun States.
